Laurel McCullagh, AAS, BS

Director of Nursing and Admissions

Laurel works with the nursing and medical staff to provide seamless admission of clients into St. Christopher’s Inn, and to assess and treat the various medical and psychiatric needs of our residents. She has developed a lecture series that assists clients in understanding how neurochemistry is affected by substance use, and how this is manifested in cravings and other symptoms of addiction. She then encourages clients to utilize practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy to address the issues that are caused by this altered chemistry. Laurel is a certified psychiatric/mental health registered nurse, and is also certified in crisis prevention and intervention. She is a member of the New York State OASAS Nurse Advisory Panel (NAP) and recipient of the Caron Foundation Unsung Hero Award. Laurel believes that educating clients about the disease of addiction and helping them to use this knowledge to cope with stressors and cravings are the keys to successful treatment.
