Special Event In Memory of Danny Cooper
Laura, Christina & Caroline Cooper
In November, 2018, friends and family gathered at the Pearl River Elks club in Nanuet to remember and celebrate a very special man. Danny Cooper was a Brother Christopher, who lived a full and happy life in recovery for many years. Tragically, Danny died of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, in late 2016, leaving behind so many who were grateful for the joy he brought to their lives. In particular, they were grateful for Danny’s years of sobriety, and for the Friars and staff at St. Christopher’s Inn, where he began his life in recovery.
To honor his memory, as well as to encourage and help the men still struggling with addiction, Danny’s wife, Christina, worked with other members of their family to organize a fundraising dinner, with all proceeds going to the St. Christopher’s InnScholarship Fund. Over 200 guests joined in the celebration, including Fr. Dennis Polanco, SA, President & Spiritual Director of the Inn. Christina welcomed everyone to the event, and together with Fr. Dennis, thanked everyone for supporting St. Christopher’s Inn with their presence and participation that evening. In total, the event raised nearly $22,000 to support the important work at the Inn.
