Annual Alumni Picnic
Each year on the first Saturday in August, the Friars and Staff of the Inn work with theSt. Christopher’s Inn Alumni Association to host an Alumni Picnic and Homecoming. All alumni from the Inn are welcomed, and many men travel from all over the east coast to be on the Holy Mountain of Graymoor for this celebration of Recovery.
The day starts with Mass in Our Lady of the Atonement Chapel, where the current SCI Choir is featured. At the end of the Mass, any alumni who ever sang in the choir are welcomed to join for the SCI Anthem penned by an Alumni many years ago, God Is On This Mountain. After a business meeting by the Alumni Association, everyone lines up for a BBQ lunch, followed by softball, volleyball, live music, a dunk tank where SCI Staff are “featured,” and lively reunions of men and their families who started their journey of Recovery together on these holy grounds.
It is a wonderful day of celebrations, memories and encouragement for all those who are still struggling. There is hope and life after addiction in Recovery.
