Brothers Christopher House Update
Brothers Christopher House is the Inn’s 11-bed transitional living facility in White Plains, New York. The men transition through three phases of treatment while living in the house, with each phase allowing for greater personal responsibility and trust. All of the Brothers Christopher are responsible for maintaining their temporary home, and share in all housekeeping duties. This past summer, the men painted the basement recreation room, and installed new curtains throughout the house. They also worked together to replace the kitchen cabinets. All of these improvements help to give the house a very homey and warm feel.
Along with Br. Tim Aller, OFM, the case manager at Brothers Christopher House, the men also planted a small garden that included tomatoes, peppers, squash and eggplant, along with other herbs and vegetables, which supplied the men with fresh ingredients for delicious meals all summer long.
The men take turns cooking an evening meal for the community of eleven daily, and often enjoy sharing their mom’s recipes with each other. When the men gather for an evening meal together, this time of food and fellowship allows them to share successes and challenges in their recovery, so they can encourage and learn from one other.
