High School Students Uplift Spirits at St. Christopher’s Inn
In September, in honor of National Recovery Month, students from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls, New York – located 19 miles from Graymoor – spread kindness and hope to the men at St. Christopher’s Inn. Working with their guidance department, these students wrote vibrant, heartfelt messages on index cards, adorned with phrases like “Never Give Up,” “You Got This” and “Stay Strong.”
Inspired by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA’s) 2024 theme, “The Art of Recovery,” along with the desire to promote school-wide awareness for recovery, the students’ powerful gesture spoke volumes to the residents of St. Christopher’s Inn. Each uplifting note inspired the men in recovery, reminding them to persevere and set meaningful goals for their future.
Men come to St. Christopher’s Inn seeking help for their various addictions. In turn, St. Christopher’s Inn offers an array of services, such as chemical dependency treatment, primary healthcare and temporary housing. Hope, healing and recovery happen daily, especially when the community steps in with gestures of kindness.
