St. Christopher’s Inn Alumni Association

The St. Christopher’s Inn Alumni held their second annual Paul Manzo Memorial Breakfast in the NPR room at the Inn on Saturday, June 23rd. Speakers included several alumni, as well as Paul Manzo, Jr. This year marks the first time the Person of the Year Award, traditionally given at this event, was newly named the “Paul Manzo Person of the Year Award.” Twenty members of Mr. Manzo’s family were in attendance as his son, Paul Jr., assisted in presenting the award to its first recipient, Teesh Brocks, for her work in the SCI family program. Teesh often provides “The Voice” for letters written by family members to their loved ones in treatment—a very compelling and challenging part of the family healing process.
On Saturday, August 4th, the Annual SCI Alumni Picnic and Homecoming took place on the grounds of Graymoor. The day started with a memorial service at the SCI Centennial Brickwalk at 8:30 am, followed by Mass in Our Lady of Atonement Chapel. After Mass, and a brief SCIAA meeting, lunch was served at the newly restored picnic pavilion, where hundreds of men celebrated the recovery they found on the holy mountain with their families, Friars and staff. Each year, this event brings such joy to the Friars and staff, but it also encourages and motivates the Brothers Christopher who are currently in treatment to keep working on their recovery, as life after active addiction is worth the work!
The SCI Alumni Association (SCIAA) will present their first SCI Alumni Coffee House Fundraising Concert on Saturday, September 22, 2018. The event will take place at Our Lady of the Atonement Chapel, and will feature Matt Butler, who recently released a new single online entitled St. Christopher’s Inn. The song was written by an SCI alumnus, who was a close friend of Matt’s, to memorialize his time at the Inn. The cost to attend the event, which starts at 2 PM, is $10 at the door.
