WHAT’S HAPPENING
Perched on a bench
A part of a circle
It’s truly sere here
This mountain is known to be magical
Surely something is happening
A downy pecking a mossy oak
Red tails and turkey vultures
Surfing the thermals
A crystal blue sky
The sun is warming my neck and back
It is also encouraging jungles of daffodils
Pushing dirt aside
Growing
Surely something magical is happening
Springtime or Eden?
A day after an equinox, or heaven on earth?
Brown covered ground of winters
Oak, elm, maple, and birch leaves
A snowbank melts slowly in today’s sun
Once magical snowflakes
Now today’s dirty laundry,
The whites heaped in the corner
What’s happening?
It’s only three months of a year
One fourth
2 slices of a pizza pie
A shiny quarter of a dollar
15 minutes of an NBA game
Or NFL if you like
Whatever, the game is on the line
What’s happening?
Is it spring?
Simply fine with me
Moving, growing, chirping, changing
It is spring
It is warm and serene
It is today
I’m here right now.
Also growing
