Highlands Current Features Be The Bridge Walk For Recovery

September 26, 2026

Recovery was on display in the September 25 edition of The Highlands Current, which featured St. Christopher’s Inn’s 5th Annual Be the Bridge Walk for Recovery in its “Around Town” section. The article included a photograph from this year’s event and offered readers a glimpse into the special network of relationships that surrounds the Inn, where lasting friendships, mutual encouragement and shared experiences continue to remind people that a new beginning is possible.

At Walkway Over the Hudson, Be the Bridge brings together alumni, families, Friars, Sisters, staff, benefactors, and friends of St. Christopher’s Inn. Over the past five years, the walk has become an annual opportunity to celebrate milestones, reconnect with old friends, welcome new supporters and stand alongside those whose lives have been touched by substance abuse disorder.

For many, the day is deeply personal. Some attend in gratitude for their own progress, while others walk in support of a loved one or to encourage those who are still seeking help. Together, they demonstrate the importance of connection, understanding and companionship in building a healthier future.

Beyond the walk itself, events like Be the Bridge help foster greater awareness of substance abuse disorder and the challenges faced by individuals and families seeking help. By bringing these stories into the public eye, they remind those who may be struggling that they are not alone, that help is available, and that healing is possible.

We are grateful to The Highlands Current for helping share this message with the broader Hudson Valley and for highlighting an event that continues to bring people together in fellowship, encouragement, and hope.
