Surprise Lake Camp – Food Donation
At St. Christopher’s Inn there are 183 beds which are at capacity nearly all the time, with a waiting list for men who need help with their addiction. Since these men live in the home of the Friars at no charge, providing for all of their needs is a financial challenge.
Recently, Surprise Lake Camp, nestled in nearby Cold Spring, found themselves with an abundance of milk and bananas beyond their needs. Celia Baczkowski, Director of Retreats and Communications for Surprise Lake Camp, reached out to Christine Madera, the St. Christopher’s Inn Giving Coordinator, and offered to deliver several gallons of milk and bunches of bananas, if the Inn could use them. Christine shared, “Since the Brothers Christopher consume 56 gallons of milk per week, we could definitely use them!” When Celia saw how grateful we were for the donation, she contacted Christine again later in September, and arranged for another donation. This time they delivered “lots of fresh produce.” We are so grateful for our neighbors who think of us and provide all kinds of donations, especially donations of food.
